Why Choose This GHT to NPT Adapter?
What "GHT" and "NPT" Actually Mean
GHT (Garden Hose Thread) is the standard threading used on U.S. garden hoses. NPT (National Pipe Thread) is a different standard used on pipes, faucets, and plumbing fittings, with tapered threads for a tighter seal. These two thread types don't connect directly—that's exactly why this adapter exists. It bridges the gap between your garden hose and a 1/2" pipe fitting.
How to Confirm You Need This Adapter
Check both ends before ordering. Your garden hose end should be 3/4" GHT male (threads on the outside). The pipe or fitting you're connecting to should be 1/2" NPT female (threads on the inside). If either side is different—1/2" NPT male, 3/4" NPT, or reversed gender—you'll need a different adapter from our NPT to GHT collection.
When to Use This Adapter
Common uses include connecting a garden hose to a fixed 1/2" pipe, adapting a hose to an outdoor faucet with NPT threads, and building custom watering setups where GHT and NPT meet. It's also useful for RV water systems, pressure washer hookups, and irrigation lines that mix thread standards.
Brass vs Plastic: Why It Matters
Plastic adapters are cheaper upfront but crack under UV exposure, freeze-thaw cycles, and high water pressure. Solid brass handles all three without deforming or leaking. If the adapter stays outdoors year-round, brass is the only option that lasts.
Installation & Sealing Tips
Hand-tighten first, then give it a quarter turn with a wrench if needed—don't overtighten, as this can damage the threads. For NPT connections, wrap the male threads with 2–3 turns of PTFE tape (not included) to improve the seal. The GHT side uses the built-in O-ring, so no tape is needed there.

FAQs
Q1: What does "3/4" GHT Female to 1/2" NPT Male" mean?
A: The 3/4" GHT end has inside threads (female) and connects to a garden hose. The 1/2" NPT end has outside threads (male) and connects to a pipe fitting.
Q2: Is it really leak-proof?
A: Yes. The built-in O-ring seal prevents leaking under normal water pressure.
Q3: What if it leaks?
A: Check that the O-ring is seated properly and the connection is hand-tightened. If defective, contact us for a replacement.
